Gujarat Region became operational from 01.05.1960. Gujarat was a part of the Maharashtra Region till then.
The expansion of the Region resulted in opening of Sub Regional Offices [SROs]. The first Sub Regional Office was opened at Surat. The name of offices and date of opining are as below:-

Gujarat Region was bifurcated in to two Regions namely Ahmedabad Region and Baroda region from 01.04.2005.
Sub Regional Offices, Rajkot, Naroda & Vatva, are under the jurisdiction of Ahmedabad Region while Sub Regional Offices, Surat & Vapi are under Baroda Region. The administrative control of the whole Gujarat is kept with the Regional PF Commissioner, Ahmedabad as a stop gap arrangement.
